YRRT Lunch & Learn: Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion

Join TIA Yukon for the first workshop in the Yukon Recruitment & Retention Taskforce Lunch & Learn series! This free series of lunch hour workshops will explore topics related to recruitment, retention, and training and will be open to all of Yukon’s business community. The YRRT Lunch & Learn is made in partnership with the Whitehorse Chamber of Commerce and the Yukon Chamber of Commerce and funded by the Canadian Northern Economic Development Agency.

Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion – Making the Workplace Work for Everyone

This workshop will provide a learning opportunity driven by empathy and curiosity, which will give participants an environment in which they can explore new ideas, challenge their beliefs, and build a better understanding of foundational diversity and inclusion principles.  

What to expect:

  • An introduction to DEI and the workplace: the business case, the human case (why it matters to employees & customers and how it helps organizations achieve their goals)
  • Practical tips and tools for where to start
  • An introduction to three guests working in inclusive employment with a facilitated Q&A
  • Post-workshop toolkit with tips and resources

Facilitators: Kristin Bower and Annika Lofstrand of Leda HR

Both consultants have experience in-house and consulting across sectors and sizes of organizations including hospitality – specifically management and customer service in hotels and restaurants. 

Kristin Bower

Kristin brings her two decades of Human Resources experience creating equitable and inclusive  workplaces to a wide variety of clients as a diversity, equity, and inclusion consultant. She has led work in the areas of DEI strategy development, disability and inclusive employment programs, mental health awareness and psychologically safe and healthy workplaces, intercultural competency and  unconscious bias training, and Reconciliation and Indigenous history.  

Annika Lofstrand

Annika’s HR expertise and business background enable her to understand and meet the needs of small  and large organizations across sectors. She looks to build skill and capacity wherever possible and to  ensure the strategy, framework, program, or service is aligned to the vision and organizational goals.  In addition to her broad HR experience and expertise, Annika has a depth of knowledge and passion for diversity, equity, and inclusion. She led the diversity strategy as the Director, Talent Management at Vancity Credit Union and provides consulting support around welcoming, inclusive, and respectful workplace cultures.
