TIA YUKON STATEMENT ON CLOSURE OF BC/YUKON BUBBLE
TIA Yukon’s Chair, Neil Hartling, made the following statement regarding the Yukon government’s November 18thannouncement of the closure of the BC/Yukon travel bubble:
“TIA Yukon recognizes that the position of the BC Government in reaction to current spikes in COVID-19 infections has resulted in the closure of the BC/Yukon Bubble. The health and safety of the Yukon’s tourism workforce, of guests to the territory, and of the Yukon public is paramount; in light of the rapid rise in COVID-19 numbers in BC, TIA Yukon supports the Yukon Government’s decision to close the bubble at this time.
Yukon tourism operators are positioned to provide self-isolation options for locals and essential workers who are in need of these services. They have adopted COVID-19 safety protocols and subscribe to the World Travel and Tourism Council’s Safe Travels program. You can find listings of active operators and accommodations at yukonwild.com and tiayukon.com.
TIA Yukon will continue to support the Yukon’s tourism community as it works to navigate this crisis.”
