Bringing Tourism Careers to Life in Dawson City

TIA Yukon partnered with Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in Government’s Ready 2Work program to deliver two days of Tourism Career Inspiration Sessions in Dawson City, engaging approximately 10 local youth.

The sessions began with TIA Yukon and the Klondike Visitors Association sharing the role tourism plays in the local community and economy, along with the diverse career opportunities available in the industry.

Participants then visited four local tourism businesses and organizations, where they explored real tourism operations — from front-of-house to behind the scenes — and connected directly with people working in the industry.

A big thank you to Yukon Spaces (Yukon Spa), Parks Canada, The Klondike Experience, and Holland America Dawson City Inn (Holland America Hotels) for welcoming our participants and sharing your workplaces and experiences. And a special thank you to Becky Alderson at Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in Government for partnering with us to make these sessions possible!

It was a great opportunity for local youth to experience tourism workplaces firsthand, meet industry professionals, and explore where a career in tourism could take them.
