SUMMARY:COMPASS\, TIA Yukon’s Spring Conference 2025
DESCRIPTION:Compass 2025: Tourism in Motion - Circular & Regenerative\nApril 24-25 | Haa Shagóon Hídi\, Carcross \n\nTourism in Motion: Circular and Regenerative - An opportunity to rethink how tourism can rebuild\, renew\, and create something better—for our communities\, environment\, and future. \nWhat does this mean? \nTourism isn’t just about where we go—it’s about how we host and connect. \nThis year’s gathering will explore how hosting—in the broadest sense—shapes community resilience\, well-being\, and our shared future. In this context\, hosting goes beyond tourism to include the way we welcome\, nourish\, and sustain each other\, our land\, and new possibilities. \nCircularity in tourism \nTourism can reduce waste\, regenerate ecosystems\, and strengthen local economies by designing smarter\, more connected systems. Circularity is not just about materials—it’s about relationships\, reciprocity\, and rethinking how we move through the world. \nRegenerative tourism \nTourism has the potential to restore\, reinhabit\, and revitalize places—when done with care. Regenerative tourism is about strengthening communities\, reconnecting with the land\, and ensuring that tourism not only minimizes harm but actively contributes to healing and renewal. \nAcross the Yukon\, we already see powerful examples of these approaches. Now\, let’s build on them and uncover what wants to grow here. \nWhy join? \nShifting toward sustainable and regenerative practices isn’t just good for the environment—it’s essential for the future of tourism and the well-being of our communities. By rethinking tourism as an ecology\, we can create businesses and experiences that are thriving\, resilient\, and deeply connected to place. \nAt Compass 2025\, we’ll turn ideas into action through: \n\nWorkshops that explore challenges\, inspire new approaches\, and rethink how we market sustainable experiences.\nDiscussions that connect different generations\, sectors\, and perspectives—including Indigenous knowledge keepers\, local businesses\, youth\, and community leaders.\nA Collective Vision Wall\, where participants share reflections throughout the event\, shaping tangible next steps.\n\nTogether\, we’ll reimagine tourism not just as an industry—but as a way to host and sustain a future we all want to be part of. \nRooted in Place\, Centered in Community \nAt its core\, regenerative tourism is about coming home—to place\, to culture\, to each other. Inspired by First Nations knowledge systems\, we’ll explore how tourism can deepen its role as a caretaker rather than a consumer of the land. \nWe’ll ask: \n\nWhat does it mean to truly host—not just visitors\, but each other and new ways of thinking?\nHow does hosting create resilience and well-being\, for people and ecosystems?\nHow can we shift from extracting value to nurturing possibilities?\n\nThis event is a collaborative journey\, filled with learning\, connection\, and inspiration—and your input is essential to shaping the future of tourism in the Yukon. \nWe’ll close with a reception and tourism awards in Whitehorse\, celebrating the businesses\, leaders\, and visionaries who are putting regenerative tourism into practice. \nJoin us\, and help create a tourism industry that welcomes not just visitors—but a thriving\, sustainable future. \n\nThis event also includes a closing reception and tourism awards in Whitehorse - find the latest infomration on the event website: https://site.pheedloop.com/event/Compass2025/home
